Symptoms: Somnolence, coma, movement disorder, convulsions, shock, hypo- or hyperthermia. The highest orally administered single dose in clinical trials was 80 mg, and up to 320 mg/day has been given.
Treatment: Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. If the drug has been swallowed, gastric lavage should be carried out immediately and activated charcoal may be administered. Measures aimed at supporting the respiratory and cardiovascular systems should be instituted; epinephrine must not be used for such patients as further lowering of blood pressure may result. Convulsions may be treated with diazepam and extrapyramidal symptoms with biperiden.
